INVESTING IN BLACK HEALTH: FOUR WAYS TO CREATE LASTING CHANGE

INVESTING IN BLACK HEALTH: FOUR WAYS TO CREATE LASTING CHANGE

The GOOD Foundation

Supporting Black Ideas to Improve Black Health

At The GOOD Foundation, we believe the people closest to the challenges are also closest to the solutions. Our role is simple: listen, connect, invest, and amplify. Every dollar entrusted to us helps support community-driven solutions that improve Black health.

1. Understanding the State of Black Health

Campaign Goal: $10,000–$15,000

You cannot improve what you do not measure.

For too long, data about Black communities has been incomplete, inaccessible, or overlooked. The GOOD Foundation seeks to become a trusted collector and aggregator of Black health data, producing an annual State of Black Health in Charlottesville and surrounding counties Report that tracks key indicators and answers a critical question: Where are we now?

This work will help community leaders, healthcare organizations, funders, and residents understand where progress is happening and where gaps remain. Most importantly, it will ensure that the experiences of Black communities are visible, valued, and used to drive action.

Your investment helps turn community stories into community solutions.

2. Bringing People Together to Create Change

Campaign Goal: $25,000

Real change happens when people come together.

The GOOD Foundation serves as a trusted convener, bringing community organizations, healthcare providers, faith leaders, educators, and residents together around a shared goal: improving Black health. Through quarterly partner meetings, community conversations, and an annual town hall, we create spaces where people can learn from one another, identify priorities, and build solutions together.

Partnerships such as our collaboration with Can I Talk To You Cville help ensure that community voices remain at the center of every discussion.

Your investment helps transform conversations into collective action.

3. Telling Stories that Save Lives

Campaign Goal: $30,000

Information can be life-changing—but only if people hear it.

Far too many health campaigns fail because they are not designed with the communities they hope to reach. The GOOD Foundation develops culturally relevant health communications and social marketing campaigns that speak directly to Black communities with messages that are trusted, relatable, and actionable.

From preventive screenings and mental health awareness to maternal health and chronic disease prevention, these campaigns help people access information, services, and opportunities that can improve and even save lives.

Your investment helps ensure that life-saving information reaches the people who need it most.

4. Funding Community-Led Solutions

Campaign Goal: $100,000

The best ideas often come from the community.

The GOOD Foundation serves as a bridge between donors and grassroots organizations working every day to improve Black health.

Through grants and strategic investments, we support community partners addressing healthcare access, education, economic opportunity, food security, maternal health, youth development, and other social drivers of health.

Our goal is not to create all the programs ourselves. Our goal is to identify great work, strengthen trusted partnerships, and help successful programs grow. Funding will also support grant administration capacity to ensure accountability, transparency, and measurable impact.

Your investment helps community leaders bring their ideas to life and expand solutions that work.
